- Protection status
- Export from New Caledonia is prohibited – only European captive-bred animals
- Brumation
- A cooler spell of 8–10 weeks
- Cohabitation
- Keeping it singly is the least stressful option — there are no husbandry reports for the species, but for the closely related chahoua the specialist sources agree on single housing, because keeping them together brings competition, stress and bite injuries. In pairs only for breeding and under observation in a considerably larger, densely structured enclosure; drawback: the female is harassed, so separate immediately if there is any biting. Never keep two males together.
Notes
Split from Mniarogekko chahoua in 2016. Requirements as for the chahoua: cool, humid, plenty of climbing height. Heat above 28 °C is the commonest cause of losses in all New Caledonians.
