- Cohabitation
- In pairs (one male, one female) in a large, densely planted enclosure – this way the species usually stays peaceful. Keeping it singly is equally appropriate and gives females a rest: after about six clutches the pair should be separated for a while anyway. One male with several females has not worked in the long term. Never keep two males together, and keep juveniles away from the male – he eats them.
Notes
A powerful day gecko with a rust-red dorsal pattern in the male. It needs more height and a hotter basking spot than the Madagascan species. Badly threatened in the wild by habitat loss.
